MasonryDefender Penetrating Chimney Brick Sealer is a commercial-grade, siloxane water repellent that bonds with the minerals in all porous, exterior masonry surfaces to provide long-lasting water repellency. This breathable, non-film forming, brick sealer will not alter the surface color or appearance. It is designed to protect most horizontal, exterior, above-grade masonry surfaces, including residential chimneys, brick walls, masonry structures, stone, brick, stucco, granite, limestone, and cultured stone. Natural substrate color and surface textures are unaffected, with little or no gloss created, though a slight darkening may occur on dense surfaces. Testing is recommended before treating any surface to ensure the desired results.

This product is intended to protect brick chimneys, brick walls, and brick houses once they have been properly cleaned with MasonryDefender All Purpose Masonry & Concrete Cleaner. The sealer penetrates into the surface and forms a permanent bond with the masonry, allowing trapped moisture to evaporate and preventing freeze/thaw damage. It seals and waterproofs the sides of the chimney, preventing water leaks that can find their way into the interior of the home.

The application process is straightforward, requiring the application of 2 coats of the product onto the chimney's surface using a pump-up sprayer. Drop cloths should be used around the base to prevent overspray. MasonryDefender Chimney Brick Sealer is a VOC-compliant, water-based sealer that is easy on the environment and simple to clean up. The product covers approximately 80-150 square feet per gallon container (assuming 2 coats) and dries to the touch in 2-6 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. It becomes waterproof after 4-6 hours of exposure to UV light and atmospheric moisture, increasing in strength for several weeks after the initial application.
